23 Online registration opens Wednesday, July 30 at jjc.enrole.com COMMUNITY & CONTINUING EDUCATION MAKERLAB Classes 3D Printers Build a 3D Printer (LLC 5895) In this hands-on workshop, participants will assemble a basic 3D printer with full guidance from an experienced instructor. Topics will cover how to maintain and operate the machine as well as the basics of 3D printing. Each student will take home their assembled 3D printer and a full roll of filament. No prior experience is required. There will be a mandatory, free information session on Wednesday, Sept. 24 at 7 p.m. to allow students to meet with the instructor, review course objectives and ask specific questions before enrolling. Over the course of these engaging sessions, you will learn how to use beginner-friendly TinkerCAD to model and design your own custom objects. You will also explore the fascinating world of reverse engineering by recreating a real-world item. In addition to mastering 3D modeling and printing techniques, the series includes a special introduction to building your own 3D printer, perfect for those interested in DIY technology and expanding their skills. No prior experience is needed, just curiosity and creativity. By the end of the workshop, you’ll walk away with hands-on experience, your own printed creation and a solid foundation in 3D design. T1 5-7p.m. T Main Oct. 21 $39 Cookies in 3D: From Printer to Plate (LLC 1334) During this two-day workshop, you will 3D print your very own cookie cutters, cut your cookies, decorate your cookies and then enjoy! During the first day of the class in the 3D Printing Lab at Romeoville Campus, you will render a file, transfer it over to a 3D printer and let it print your cookie cutters. Use those personalized cutters the following week at City Center Campus to cut and bake your cookies. You will also learn some basic techniques needed to flood and decorate your cookies.
