T1 10a.m.-Noon S Main Nov. 22 $39 Personal Safety Utah Concealed Carry Permit (LLC 4924) This concealed carry course will qualify you to apply for your Utah Concealed Carry Permit. During this four-hour course, topics will cover all requirements, laws and other considerations of carrying a concealed weapon. All questions will be answered. Firing of a firearm is not required to obtain the Non-Resident Utah Concealed Firearm Permit. Fingerprint cards and photo services will be available immediately following the course at no additional fee. Students are solely responsible for the application process and fees through the State of Utah. The permit is valid for 5 years, and retraining is not required for renewal. Range time is available. Students are responsible for the range fees. The Utah Concealed Carry permit is honored in 31 states; when combined with the Illinois Concealed Carry, permits are honored in a total of 34 states. T1 10a.m.-2p.m. S Main Sept. 6 $80 Illinois Concealed Carry In order to apply for an Illinois Concealed Carry Permit, students must successfully complete both the N.R.A. Basic Pistol Course (8 hours) and the Illinois Concealed Carry training course (8 hours) for a total of 16 hours. Classroom sessions will be held at JJC. In order to successfully complete the training course, students must pass a live fire test at the range. Participants do not need to own a pistol; several types will be provided for use. Training laser pistols and targets are used to teach proper grip, stance and sighting. The live fire range training will be held at Rink’s Gun and Sport, 14363 Archer Ave., Lockport. Students will be responsible for paying the range fee to Rink’s. In order to accommodate schedules, the range time will be scheduled individually with the instructor. Instructors are approved by the Illinois State Police to conduct Illinois Concealed Carry firearms training. Students are solely responsible for completing the application process through the Illinois State Police; however, the instructor will provide an ID picture and assistance with any application question. Basic Pistol (LLC 4850) Course topics include: gun safety rules, proper operation of revolvers and semi- automatic pistols, ammunition knowledge and selection, pistol selection and storage, shooting fundamentals, pistol inspection and maintenance, marksmanship and shooting range safety. Additionally, students will complete live fire training and a nationally standardized shooting qualification while on the range with an NRA Certified Instructor. All range work is 1 on 1. Students will receive the NRA Guide: Basics of Pistol Shooting Handbook, take a Basics of Pistol Shooting Student Examination and receive a course completion certificate bearing the signature of the NRA Secretary and your NRA Certified Instructor. This is a lifetime certificate and qualifies the participant for the first 8 hours of the Illinois 16-hour requirement. Individual live fire range lessons will be scheduled with the instructor. Ammunition and firearms will be supplied. Please Note: Students ages 18-20 may register in the N.R.A. Basic Pistol class but must bring a parent or legal guardian to the firing range session. Basic Pistol Course (LLC 4850) if they are an active duty, retired or an honorably discharged member of the U.S. Armed Forces. (Must provide copy of DD214.) Students may enroll at age 20, but must be 21 to apply for the concealed carry permit. In order to enroll in the Illinois Concealed Carry course, students must possess a valid firearm owner identification card (Illinois residents), possess a valid state ID, be allowed by both federal and state law to legally possess a firearm and be able to follow all directions given by the training staff. It is suggested permit holders successfully complete the renewal course and apply for renewal 120 days before the permit expiration date. Please Note: Students must have a valid, unexpired permit to attend. The live fire range test will be held at Rink’s Gun and Sport, 14363 Archer Ave, Lockport. Students will be responsible for their ammunition costs and paying the range fee to Rink’s. In order to accommodate schedules, the range time will be scheduled individually with the instructor. Instructors are approved by the Illinois State Police to conduct Illinois Concealed Carry firearms training. Upon successful completion of the course, students will receive an electronic certificate and photograph to upload when renewing their Illinois Concealed Carry permit.
