Over the course of the camp, you'll learn how to use beginner- friendly TinkerCAD to model and design your own custom objects. You will also explore the fascinating world of reverse engineering by recreating a real-world item. Step into the Middle Ages for a hands-on adventure in the world of knights and castles. Kids will become medieval makers as they design family crests, build castles and catapults, create stained-glass art and play traditional medieval games. Along the way, students will explore life in medieval times through creative projects, playful “dragon-slaying” science and a feast of treats fit for kings and queens. TY1 10a.m.-Noon T-R Main June 2-4 Ages 6-12 $95 Fabricating the Future: 3D Printing to Metal Casting (LLC 1332) Students will conceptualize and design an object, which they then produce using 3D printing technology. This printed model will serve as a pattern for metal casting. Employing the sand molding foundry method, students will fabricate a mold and melt metal to pour into it, ultimately producing a casting. Simple machines are all around us and we use them all the time to make our lives easier. This camp will look at the main simple machines in our lives. We will examine how they make our lives easier and practice using them and challenge each other in using the different simple machines. Step into the role of inventor and get ready to build, tinker, and create! Students will prototype clean energy solutions using recycled materials, basic coding and real engineering tools. Projects include crafting solar ovens from pizza boxes and reflective foil, designing hydro systems with water pumps and tubing and building smart home models powered by motors and sensors.
